Call for Video Submissions - Your Research
We are pleased to invite submissions of short 1 - 3 minute videos that showcase the variety of research and innovation underway in offshore renewable energy, helping to encourage connections and knowledge exchange.
The videos will be shared via Supergen ORE Hub communication channels, including our LinkedIn account.
We welcome submissions under the following categories:
Video 1 - Spotlighting Research in the Offshore Renewable Energy sector
3 minutes | Research and Industry Audience
What are you researching and how is it supporting the development of offshore renewable energy?
A 3-minute film about your research, or innovative project, aimed at people working in offshore renewable energy, across academia and industry.
Suggested content:
- What are you currently researching? Or focus on a recently completed project of interest.
- Explain what your work could lead to - what problem does it help to address or what are the potential outcomes. Don't assume prior knowledge of the topic, its value and purpose.
- Feel free to mention any aspects where you are looking for collaboration.
- Introduce yourself, your job title and institution.
These films will showcase the breadth of research underway, helping to build awareness of the work taking place across the offshore renewable energy research community.
Video 2 - The People in the Research Community
1 minute | General Public
What are you researching and why does it interest you?
A 1-minute film for a general public audience with no specialist knowledge of offshore renewable energy.
Suggested content:
- What are you researching?
- What do you find interesting or exciting about it?
Introduce yourself, a brief description of your role and where you work.
You could also explain:
- What problem does your research help to address?
- How does it contribute to the bigger picture within the development of offshore renewable energy?
- What drew you to this area of research?
- What would you like your research to achieve?
This film should provide a short introduction to your work, with a focus on you and what motivates you.
Please avoid acronyms and technical terms that may be unfamiliar to a general audience. Think about how you could explain the most interesting aspects of the subject to someone encountering it for the first time.
These films may be used as part of Supergen ORE Hub public engagement activities, helping to introduce a wider audience to the research underway through the voices of those driving it forwards.
Who Can Submit?
Anyone working in offshore renewable energy, or relevant related areas, within the UK is welcome to submit a film.
We welcome submissions spanning the breadth of offshore renewable energy research, including engineering, environmental science, social sciences and related disciplines. We hope to showcase the variety of areas of interest within the sector.
Making Your Video
- You can submit either Video 1 or 2, or both.
- You can film using a smartphone or record via Teams/Zoom.
- Aim for natural lighting and good sound quality. A related background would add visual interest - somewhere that indicates your line of work. Some helpful tips on making a video are available on this C-DICE webpage.
- You're welcome to use slides or graphics, in addition to yourself on screen.
- We welcome videos that include research or industry collaborators - if you'd like to request to submit a longer duration of video in this instance, please email us.
- The film should be ready to use and not require additional editing.
What Happens to the Videos
We intend to publish all relevant videos on our Vimeo channel and selected videos via LinkedIn, YouTube, our website and within other Hub activities and channels. In the case of very high numbers received, we may not be able to share all videos. This activity is aimed at spotlighting research and innovation and should not be used to publicise commercial products or services. We reserve the right not to publish any videos, subject to quality and suitability for Supergen ORE Hub content.
Submitting Your Video
- All film entries must be emailed to supergenorehub@eng.ac.uk by Friday 30 October 2026.
- Film files should be emailed in an accessible file format or via a file transfer link.
