This research project aims to study the wave interaction with a floating/submerged elastic disk by using both theoretical simulation and physical tests. A weakly nonlinear model will be developed, providing a powerful tool to study the hydrodynamic interactions. The modelling results will then provide key parametric data that will inform an extensive experimental campaign at 1:20 scale in a 35 m long by 15.5 m wide Ocean Basin. The proposed activities will allow us to enrich the understanding about the novel device concepts - rethinking the mechanism of energy extraction in the Offshore Renewable Energy sector.
