We were delighted to host an event connecting representatives from across the offshore renewable energy community to discuss how we can accelerate sector growth and achieve the rapid expansion needed to meet Net Zero targets. The event, sponsored by the University of Plymouth, opened with a presentation from Professor Deborah Greaves, who shared pivotal insights from the ORE Outlook 2040 report, highlighting the critical role of offshore wind, wave, and tidal energy in mitigating the climate crisis and research and innovation can reduce the scale of the task.

During the event, we encouraged guests to engage with crucial questions regarding the future of offshore renewables, focusing on how organisations can respond to the challenge, what actions should be taken collectively, and how research and innovation can support these efforts. The goal was to spark action, collaboration, and a shift in approach toward the acceleration of rapid sector growth. It was inspiring to see such strong enthusiasm for the future of offshore renewable energy in the room, and to hear our guest's examples of how research has addressed the challenges they face.

The event marked the beginning of an ongoing dialogue. We look forward to continuing these cross-sector conversations, championing new solutions and innovations and sharing progress. We encourage participants to keep the momentum going by sharing their thoughts on this LinkedIn thread and continuing to advocate for decisive actions in the months ahead.
