About the Masterclass
This Masterclass will equip participants with a thorough understanding and hands-on experience in conducting real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) experiments for the grid integration of offshore renewable energy systems. Through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, participants will develop their expertise in the fundamental concepts and techniques involved in designing, modelling, and executing real-time simulations using a range of cutting-edge devices, including real-time simulator, grid emulator, wind turbine emulator, energy storage emulator and electronic load emulator.
This Masterclass has been designed in collaboration with Supergen Network Plus in Artificial Intelligence for Renewable Energy (SuperAIRE) and blends expertise from the University of Warwick with the latest insight from Masterclass partners Opal-RT Technologies, offering unparalleled quality and relevance of content.
The Masterclass provides unique access to a state-of-the-art real-time simulator to test smart power grids with the integration of distributed renewable power generation. The knowledge gained will empower participants to transition their simulation models into real-time environments, enabling effective HIL testing for control systems and prototyping in the field of offshore renewable energy. Participants will gain valuable insights via case studies regarding the ORE-based ancillary services, offshore HVDC transmissions, hydrogen, AI, cybersecurity, and the integration of hardware into simulation models.
To book your place on this Masterclass we encourage you to register early as places are limited. This Masterclass is scheduled to run one final time in September 2026.
