This project proposes a novel type of suction anchors to support offshore renewable energy structures including floating wind turbines and wave energy converters and examines the feasibility of their installation through a series of small-scale 1g experiments and finite element analysis. The novel anchors are in form of cylindrical shapes enhanced with vertical flanges added to the exterior surfaces of the anchors.
