We recently attended the Offshore Wind Supply Chain Spotlight Event, where we had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and collaborate on innovating the systems and technologies needed to support the rapid growth of the offshore renewable energy (ORE) sector. The event, developed by Catapult ORE and Offshore Wind Growth Partnership, provided a platform to discuss key issues and explore how the UK supply chain can match the increasing demand of offshore wind, wave, and tidal energy.
As highlighted in our recent ORE Outlook 2040 report, "Investment in research and innovation is crucial to underpin economic growth and supply chain competitiveness, securing UK economic content and technological leadership in the global ORE industry." We believe that sustained research and innovation is essential to strengthen the UK’s position as a leader in the global offshore renewable energy market. See the report in full on our website.
During the event, our Director, Professor Deborah Greaves, joined the panel of Keynote Session 3: Collaboration on an Industrial Scale – Mobilising the Industrial Growth Plan, where she shared insights on the role of innovation in advancing the ORE supply chain. Investment in research and innovation is crucial to underpin economic growth and supply chain competitiveness, securing UK economic content and technological leadership in the global ORE industry. Professor Greaves emphasised the importance of immediate actions that will make a tangible impact on our progress toward Net Zero by 2040.
"The academic community plays a vital role in advancing the research necessary to develop the ORE supply chain, taking the longer-term view and targeting research in the gaps and opportunities,"
It was an inspiring day at the Offshore Wind Supply Chain Spotlight Event, with many valuable discussions and insights into the latest ideas and solutions in the works. We look forward to building on the connections established and working together with our partners to drive innovation and growth.
